Gisheke
Located in the Nyamasheke District, the Gisheke station overlooks Lake Kivu, with approximately 40% of the cherries arriving at Gisheke transported by boat from Mushungwe Island and other surrounding islands. Gisheke is accessible only by water.
Gisheke’s geographical location is ideal for processing and drying naturally processed coffees. This is due to the steady airflow created between two steep hills extending toward Lake Kivu, Idjwi Island, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
It has an acidity reminiscent of apple and a sweetness akin to orange marmalade. As it cools, notes of red grape and vanilla emerge, while warm milk chocolate notes become prominent in the finish.
